A new electric vehicle with zero emissions will save more than a tonne of CO2 per year compared to cars with internal combustion engines.
The funds for the purchase have been obtained by the Brezno Municipality from the Norwegian Funds as part of an action plan to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Free of pollution and noise
Access: 500 km, maximum speed: 180 km/h, quantity of emissions: 0. These are the parameters of the second city electric car. It was acquired by the town thanks to a 28 thousand grant from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism in order to provide for public interest activities.
„Road transport and motor vehicles are heavily involved in environmental pollution. Pollution and noise from transport damage the quality of life and worsen the living conditions of cities. We therefore want to contribute to the reduction of the amount of polluting substances discharged into the city by using the electric car for the needs of the town Brezno“, mayor Tomáš Abel justifies the purchase of another electric car which cost almost 34 000.00 €.
City SUV without emissions
According to town project manager Emma Herichová, the electric car will be used exclusively for non-economic activities and in the public interest for performance of self-governing functions. „A new electric car with zero combined CO2 emissions in g/km has been purchased for the needs of staff of the Town Hall in order to give priority to travel within town and surroundings with this environmentally friendly mode of transport“, explains Herichová.
The design of an attractive urban SUV powered by an electric power train with a specific gearbox and a power of 220 kW does not produce any emissions and will run for an average of 500 km per charge. The charging time ranges from less than 40 minutes via the rapid charging station up to 7,5 hours via the standard socket. The savings in emissions compared to vehicles with an internal combustion engine amount to approximately one tonne of CO2 per year.
