In 2020, the town Brezno applied for the grant for the implementation of the project "Action plan and measures of the town Brezno aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change" in accordance with the call for proposals from the Norway Grants. And in 2021 our application was approved, which has enabled us to start the project.
The town of Brezno managed to establish cooperation with a Norwegian partner, namely with the city in the south-west - Ullensvang. The Scandinavian countries are known for several innovations, mainly in the field of support and development of the environment, ecological solutions like waste treatment, the use of alternative sources, energy and much more. These areas will serve as an inspiration to us and thanks to our close partnership, we hope that they will share their experience with us.
The project will contribute to the sustainable quality of life of the population and the quality of the environment in the town in response to the adverse effects of climate change. The measures that the town plans to take will save more than 2,000 tons of CO2.
The implementation of the project is planned for three years. The subsidy at the amount of 1.4 million euros will enable the town to renovate the kindergartens Hradby, B. Němcová, the creation of rain gardens, the retention of rainwater or the use of alternative energy sources in our town and many others.
