Renovating the kindergarten will reduce energy consumption in the operation of the public building

The kindergarten at MPČĽ 35 Street is undergoing significant renovation with the main goal of reducing energy consumption in the operation of a public building.

The kindergarten, which is located in the same building as the elementary school in Mazorníkovo, has already been renovated, when the city created more comfortable conditions for children and teachers for educational activities or various activities related to play. Kindergarteners have nice, modern classrooms, as well as sanitary facilities in cheerful colors on the 3rd and 4th floors. However, the condition of the building was unsatisfactory from a thermal and energy point of view, where there were significant heat losses, uneconomic operation of the building and inefficient spending of funds, which also results in a negative impact on the environment. The Brezno municipality decided to improve this situation and started work before the summer.

According to information from the investment department, it has already been possible to insulate the walls, the ceiling above the fourth above-ground floor, replace the windows, doors, and excavate and insulate the damp wall below ground level. The staircase adjacent to the school building was extended up to the fourth above-ground floor. As for the interior, recuperation units will be installed in the classrooms, which will ventilate the spaces without the need to open the windows, and the lighting fixtures will be replaced with energy-saving LEDs throughout the kindergarten building.

"By implementing the project, we will achieve energy savings for heating in the range of more than 55%. We will also gradually adjust the spaces on the first and second above-ground floors, which are not part of this reconstruction, and in the future we plan to renovate them from the city's own resources," added Mayor Tomáš Abel, thanking teachers, parents, children, and the public for their patience for the minimal restrictions in use of the neighboring sports complex.

To restore this kindergarten, the city received a non-refundable financial contribution of more than 250,000 euros from the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic, represented by the Slovak Innovation and Energetic Agency.
