The town purchased 50 collection containers for biodegradable waste from Norway grants

After energy, industry and agriculture, waste management is the fourth largest source of greenhouse gases in the European Union. The main source of emissions are waste landfills.

The main source of greenhouse gases generated in landfills is biodegradable waste. Its decomposition under anaerobic conditions produces landfill gas. Approximately 1,296,347 tons of municipal waste are deposited in landfills in the Slovak Republic annually.

The town is renovating two kindergartens on streets Hradby and B. Němcová

All the kindergartens under the town's authority have already been gradually renovated, this time since august it's being worked on Hradby and Božena Němcova streets. The town received financial resources from Norway grants for the renovation.

On May 19th 2022 was held online conference regarding project “Action plan and measures of the city of Brezno aimed at mitigating the consequences of climate change” implemented with financial support from Norway through Norway Grants and co-financed from the State Budget of the Slovak Republic.

Dear gentlemen,

in the name of mayor of town Brezno JUDr. Tomáš Abel, PhD. we would like to invite you to first online conference within project „ACC02P04 – Action plan and measures of the town Brezno aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change“ implemented with financial support from Norway through Norway Grants and co-financed from the State Budget of the Slovak Republic.

Another electric car was purchased for the town car park

A new electric vehicle with zero emissions will save more than a tonne of CO2 per year compared to cars with internal combustion engines. 

The funds for the purchase have been obtained by the Brezno Municipality from the Norwegian Funds as part of an action plan to mitigate the effects of climate change.
