To support acquaintance with biodegradable waste by purchasing 50 pieces of containers with a capacity of 1,100 l

The main source of greenhouse gases generated at landfills is biodegradable waste. Increased  concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere indicate an increase in the global average temperature, which could lead to a potentially catastrophic climate change.

From the total weight of municipal waste, which is currently deposited in landfills in the Slovak Republic or incinerated in waste incinerators, 35 to 70% can be used by composting. Bio-waste composting is considered by experts to be one of the effective means of reducing CO2 production in human activities and thus a means of combating global warming. The potential for CO2 savings by composting at the site of biological waste generation is great in the Slovak Republic.

Composting BROs at the place of their origin is the most effective in this way. Recycling bio-waste by composting can contribute to a more effective fight against climate change, as soil quality is improved and carbon dioxide sequestration into the soil is achieved. The goal of town Brezno in this area is to reduce the amount of waste disposed of in landfills and to ensure the ecological recovery of BRO.
The fulfillment of this goal was achieved by implementing measures related to the creation of infrastructure for the collection of BRO (from 2022, including kitchen waste) through the purchase of containers at BRO (50 pieces with a capacity of 1,100 litres), thus creating the system of comprehensive waste biomass disposal molds - by composting this organic waste.

For the duration of the project (3 + 5 years), by ensuring the collection and recovery of BRO, the reduction in CO2 emissions at the total amount of 1,898 t will be achieved.
